The Stephen Mbuvi Scholarship Fund

Education

A trader once paid Stephen Mbuvi’s school fees. This fund does the same for Kiteta’s brightest students today.

They earn the place. The fees put it out of reach.

When Kiteta’s students excel in national exams, they earn places at Kenya’s national secondary schools, the best-equipped schools in the country. But school fees put those places out of reach for many families, and high performers can end up at schools that cost less and offer far less.

The parents of Kiteta Primary School asked for help. The Stephen Mbuvi Scholarship Fund is the answer for qualifying students.

Tuition and fees, paid directly to the school.

The fund pays secondary school tuition and mandatory fees for high-performing students from Kiteta Primary School who earn a place at a national school and whose families cannot afford it. Payments go directly to the school. Support is awarded annually and can be renewed each year, based on academic performance and continued financial need.

Selection is made by a small committee that includes a representative from Kiteta Primary School, a representative from SMG, and a community leader or educator. Every decision is documented, so the process stays transparent and fair.

How the fund is held

The Stephen Mbuvi Scholarship Fund is a scholarship program administered by Stephen Mbuvi Global.

The first scholar is in school today.

In 2025, Kiteta’s top students performed well enough to earn admission to high-performing national secondary schools. That is what years of books, light and safe classrooms build toward. Applications opened in January 2026, the fund’s first scholar qualified that year, and SMG is paying their school fees today.

Fund more scholars, every year.

The goal is simple: no student from Kiteta should lose the place they earned at a national school over fees.

Help send Kiteta’s best students to the schools they earned.
