Support in everyday life
“Our children used to walk barefoot, so the shoes helped us a great deal. Then the sweaters came, because they used to feel the cold. They have supported us with food, and there was a time they helped the parents with school fees.”

A place to learn
“Before they came to renovate our classes, we were working under harsh conditions. There was dust in the classrooms, and the learners were getting colds and coughs because of it. Since the renovation, all has been well. We are in an environment that is conducive for learning.”

A receipt is emailed to you as soon as your gift goes through. It carries the date, the amount and our EIN, which is everything an accountant needs. If it does not arrive, check your spam folder, then email info@stephenmbuviglobal.org and we will send it again.
-
Yes, and it is the most useful gift we receive. A school year runs on a schedule. Knowing what is coming lets us commit to a repair or a term of fees before the term starts rather than after it.
-
Every receipt email has a link at the bottom to manage your gift. It opens a page where you can change the amount, move the date, update your card, pause the gift or stop it altogether. You do not need an account or a password, and any receipt from the plan works, not only the most recent one. If you would rather we handled it, email info@stephenmbuviglobal.org.

Into one general fund that pays for work at Kiteta Primary School, the Stephen Mbuvi Scholarship Fund, Ndithini Vocational School, and leadership support for teachers and community leaders. We hold it as one fund on purpose, so money can move to the most pressing need rather than to whichever project attracts the most attention.
-
No, and that is deliberate. Every gift joins the general fund. Restricted giving is how a school ends up with three new classrooms and no money for the roof. One fund lets the community’s own order of priorities set the order of the work.
-
The community does. Nothing moves forward unless the people in Kiteta have asked for it, planned it and put their own labour and resources into it. SMG funds what comes out of that process. It is why the work looks the way it does: a library first, then classrooms, then electricity, then a vocational school.
-
They are honest averages, not invoices. Costs move with the price of materials and the size of a class, so $150 covers roughly a year of uniforms, textbooks and supplies for one student rather than exactly that. Your gift joins the general fund and is spent where the community’s plan needs it.
-
In 2001, neighbours of the Mbuvi family built a library at Kiteta Primary School in his memory. A two-classroom conversion. Everything SMG does now grew out of that room. The full story is on The Stephen Mbuvi Legacy page.
-
The paperwork is new. The work is twenty-five years old. The library opened in 2001, and the years since brought renovated classrooms, electricity, rainwater tanks, books, uniforms, menstrual health supplies, teacher support and a vocational school. Registering as a 501(c)(3) in December 2024 formalised what the community had already been doing for two decades.
